Something About Me
Through receiving and giving many different styles of massage and bodywork during the last two decades I have enjoyed developing my own understanding, art and skill in the healing modalities of massage in a holistic and therapeutic context. This has been alongside my main profession working as a coach and training consultant specialising mainly in the areas of personal resilience, wellbeing and stress management in a wide range of public and private sector organisations.
Earlier in my career, while working in the corporate world I experienced first hand how debilitating a stress related illness can be and how suddenly this can develop for anyone trying to cope in a busy or pressurised environment.
Partly because of this experience, I have felt honoured and privileged to coach many hundreds of people over the years in understanding and overcoming both the sources of stress and its effects on their physical, mental and emotional health.
While exploring for myself different styles of massage, bodywork, meditation, yoga and mindfulness over the years, I came to recognise how powerful these practices can be in supporting people who are dealing with the mental and emotional effects of stress or trauma.
My curiosity about how stress and trauma manifest within the physiology of the body, and how physical or emotional tension can be released, led me to want to practise massage professionally alongside my face-to-face coaching work.
Some ten years ago when I first received Lomi Lomi massage from an experienced practitioner while I was working in London, I was blown away by the positive effect it had on me and my reaction was that this has to be one of the the best styles of holistic and therapeutic massage ever! All these years later, I still feel the same way.
Trying to find practitioners locally wasn’t easy as Lomi Lomi still isn’t widely practised in the UK outside London. I guess that’s when the desire was born in me to learn the art and skill myself one day. So naturally, when I decided to expand my professional practise a few years ago and incorporate massage into my work, Lomi Lomi had to be my preferred choice.
My Lomi Lomi Teacher
I was trained and certified by Rosalie Samet who is the UK’s leading Master Trainer of the sacred art of Hawaiian Massage. Born in North America, Rosalie studied in Hawaii in 1990 with Kahuna Masters of Huna wisdom, shamanism and massage and has been practicing and developing these crafts exclusively since then.
The training is accredited by both the Complementary Therapists Association and (CThA) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
I am forever grateful to Rosalie not only for the training but also for opening my awareness to the deeper wisdom and healing insights associated with this ancient Hawaiian tradition.
